Why swing outwards?
While the Nordic Door is available with an inward swing, swinging outwards yields two key design advantages. First, by opening the door outwards, precious interior floor space is saved. Second, the weather seal performs better because the harder the wind blows the tighter the seal becomes. The reduced air infiltration saves energy and improves comfort.
Product Information
Interior wood frames are available in a variety of hardwood, softwood, and bamboo species including Forest Stewardship Council© certified materials. All wood materials are kiln dried and preservative treated to prevent deterioration.
Applied prior to assembly, our three-coat factory finish options include standard and custom paints, stains, and clearcoats.
Wood and bamboo are natural grain materials and will always exhibit individual characteristics and features. The overall look of the product will vary depending on grain, texture, and color of the wood. As such, these images are representative only and not to be considered an exact match of the final product.
Three finish options are available for our extruded aluminum profiles: powder coating, anodized finish, and Kynar® fluropolymer coatings.
Powder Coating, our most common finish, is highly durable in all environments. Select from our stock colors or custom colors.
Anodized finish gives any commercial or residential projects a timeless metallic aesthetic ranging from bright clear to deep black.
Kynar® PVDF coatings are exceptional for their ability to retain color and gloss keeping windows looking vibrant.
Rule of Thumb
The maximum area of a single door is 28 ft² and 57 ft² for a double door. For custom sizes exceeding these dimensions, contact a product representative.

Fixed Sidelites
Note: Fixed sidelites are field mulled for single and paired doors. Each sidelite can be any size up to 60 ft² without exceeding 96″ in both directions. Nordic Doors can also be mulled to other H Window products instead of the fixed sidelite.
